Somerset's SOLID OR ENGINEERED? IT’S A MATTER OF PREFERENCE…NOT APPEARANCE!

Solid and Engineered Thickness

Whether you choose solid or engineered construction, with Somerset, you get the preferred look of solid, sawn flooring once installed. The sawn face of Somerset's 1/2” engineered flooring replicates the look of a solid floor. Engineered flooring gives you the benefit of multi-layer, cross-grained construction for dimensional stability and installation flexibility—install virtually anywhere in your home, including the basement. Both solid and engineered flooring can be refinished by a professional flooring contractor, if ever needed or desired.

We feel that no other hardwood flooring in the industry is manufactured to higher quality standards than a Somerset hardwood floor. Flooring in the Specialty Collection carries our Lifetime Structural Integrity Warranty and a 50-Year Finish Wear Layer Warranty. Please read the entire limited warranty, which we call the “Somerset Commitment" here.

We take great pride in the products we offer and want our customers to be completely satisfied with our flooring. Our limited warranty coverage is intended to give you peace of mind that you are purchasing a quality product from a highly reputable company. Please keep in mind that Somerset manufactures flooring, not finished floors; the flooring installer must complete the finished product. Many critical decisions must be made at the installation site, and therefore are the sole responsibility of the installer and owner. Please make sure to read our entire limited warranty document, so you understand the installer’s, and your, responsibility to insure a successful installation. In addition, we suggest you read our care and maintenance information as proper routine and preventative maintenance is important to your continued satisfaction with your floor.

Grade LevelsSolid hardwood flooring is designed to be nailed or stapled-down on or above grade only.

Engineered flooring can be nailed, stapled, glued-down, or floated on, above, or below grade.

We recommend installation by a professional flooring installer, as many critical decisions must be made at the installation site that are the sole responsibility of the installer and owner. Hardwood flooring is an investment, that if properly installed and cared for can add value to your home. It is very important to understand that INSTALLATION CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE of hardwood flooring, subfloor, structure, all jobsite conditions including temperature, humidity, subfloor moisture, and all other variables that may affect the performance of hardwood flooring. DO NOT INSTALL IF THERE IS ANY QUESTION AS TO ACCEPTABILITY OF ALL MATERIALS, including color (natural or stain) and gloss consistency, and sufficient quantity to complete the job. Complete installation guidelines are included with Somerset flooring cartons and are available on our website under "Customer Support."
